Zamikazi

This may sound like a weird topic really, but I am really annoyed about something right now. Namestealin’.

Let’s be honest here, when the name Zamikazi came up there was something special about it…no one had come up with it. It was my identity, granted for a while it was a groups identity, now it’s all me.

I do have a Google Alert for the term Zamikazi because let’s face it, if someone types Zamikazi they are probably going to be referencing to something I have done in the past with my friends or my current blog, anything else would be strange. Well, my most recent Google Alert came to me saying that someone was using my name Zamikazi.

If you want to see what I am talking about, it’s a Youtube profile of some 14 year old in Australia who loves to play Counterstrike. Just Google it.

Another instance of this is the fact that zamikazi.net isn’t owned by me. I must of accidentally let that expire back a while ago. Really stupid on my part, now it’s a shitty name squatter domain, of course their contact information puts them in the Cayman Islands…tax evasion anyone? Really lame, but what can you do? Maybe if it ever expires I will pick it up, but I doubt that because it will be in the year 2012. HA!

What do I do? I want to say, “Hey, don’t use my name.” The problem with that is I don’t want to be a jerk, but for someone to take that name and call it their own is a slap in the face.

I guess a thing to take away form this is to register everything that you can in every major outlet just so you don’t run into this problem.

Sometimes the internet just really pisses me off. HA!

I can’t believe I never mentioned this, but I updated my portfolio like earlier this month! Yeah, delayed a bit but that’s alright.

Right now I am getting the copy of the portfolio betterized so that I don’t sound like the weirdo that I am.

I really am satisfied with this. I think there are some things I will refine in the future and probably add a bit more stuff to it, such as logos that I have done. I also am thinking about seriously adding music to it but I don’t know if I will do that, I am not really that awesome.

In case you are wondering about why I did it the way I did, well…I really wanted to go with simplicity. I know it’s pretty plain but I like that. You can say that the site has a minimalist feel to it, but the textured background adds something to it.

The site also was created with no design in mind really, I just went with what happened. So there is no PSD or anything really that says what I wanted the site to look like, I just kinda felt it out. I tend to find that the designs I just do always turn out better than the ones I design (for personal projects that is).

The site also has a little grid system that I made for it that I will be able to use where ever I feel like. If you have an interest in that sort of thing you can see my grid system.

I am going to be working on a jingle for The Just Humorous Podcast so if that is awesome I guess maybe I can work on doing audio work also? I don’t know, just typing out loud.
