Last weekend my girlfriend and I went to Los Angeles to watch Stella. In this process we had to go to Los Angeles, a city I don’t care too much for. We not only had to go to Los Angeles, we had to go to downtown LA. I heard so many bad things about it, I was scared to book my hotel and leave my car out there while I slept.
We arrive in Los Angeles at night, thanks to a lovely traffic jam on the I-10. As we get off the I-10 we drive through a lovely industrial area with shady types walking around all willy nilly. I was thinking, “I hope our hotel is far from this.”
Kept driving, kept seeing hobos, kept seeing shady-types, kept hoping for a better street after the current.
Finally, we get to Main St and see our hotel. It was a breath of fresh air, it was on a well-lit street next to a fancy hotel and what seemed to be a decent street at night. Anyways, we drove around the area and it didn’t seem all that bad. I seriously was wondering what people were talking about when they said it was scary. There weren’t that many hobos walking around, but that is not the point of this.
Los Angeles had a beautiful downtown, I was in love. Everywhere I looked I saw buildings that were just pure awesome. The architecture was just so awesome, but then I looked at the street and was let down. It was ugly, full of loser parking attendents and horrible storefronts. I guess that is what happens to cities when they get so big.

Just neat!

Condos

Nifty!
I think I am just a sucker for tall buildings. I want nothing more than to own a loft of a sort, just being able to look around and see other highrises. I just love a good cityscape, they’re pretty friggin’ awesome.
I also love that old type of architecture, such as art deco and such. Just all of these buildings in one area made me feel full of glee.
One other thing about Los Angeles that blew me away…a clear sky.

What?! This is a first.
Seriously though, I don’t ever recall a clear sky. I’m sure this may happen more often, but I just seriously don’t ever remember seeing a clear sky like that. What do I know? I live in Phoenix, not a LA.
